CLINTON/GORE ‘96 ANNOUNCES NEW SENIOR CAMPAIGN ADVISOR AND DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL PROJECTS

Peter Knight, Clinton/Gore Re-election Campaign Manager, today announced that Mickey Ibarra will join the campaign as the Senior Campaign Advisor and Director of Special Projects.

Mr. Ibarra will be responsible for a broad portfolio of activities to support the Clinton/Gore ‘96 campaign.

"We are extremely fortunate to have Mickey joining our team," said Knight. "His 15 years experience and strong relationships with the Hispanic, labor, and education communities uniquely qualifies him for this position."

Mr. Ibarra will join the campaign on September 1, 1996 after taking a leave from his position as the Campaigns and Elections Manager at the National Education Association in Washington, DC. At the NEA, Mr. Ibarra oversaw campaign planning and coordination, strategy development, fundraising, voter registration and participation, political advocacy, and candidate recommendations. He was named a "Rising Star" in May of 1994 by Campaigns & Elections magazine and was selected by Hispanic Business magazine in October of 1995 to their "100 Influentials Directory"”

A native of Salt Lake City, Mr. Ibarra has a Master of Education degree from the University of Utah. He is a member of the Democratic National Committee and served on the Political Affairs staff of the Presidential Transition Office following President Clinton’s election in 1992.
